Why do you love your new role with FBC?
My favorite part about being the youth minister is having the weekly opportunity to pour into the students’ lives the truth about why we are here and what our purpose is in this life. The theologian John Piper is known for many things, but one quote that he has coined and lived by is, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him!” This seemingly simple quote has profoundly impacted my life! With that being said, I get super pumped about getting to share the wisdom found in God’s Word with the students so that all of us can learn how to navigate this life in a manner that produces joy by seeking to glorify God in all areas of our life! In summation, I can’t wait to not only create relationships with these students and give them an accurate understanding of the Gospel, but also just as important to me, is the need to continue to disciple them into the countercultural leaders for Christ that we, as Christians, are meant to be!
What are you hoping to bring to FBC Troy?
I am hoping to bring a fresh perspective on what the Scriptures teach and that church isn’t a place with pretty people everywhere. It is a place where beat up people get to gather and join around a central subject, GRACE! Maybe better said, I am looking forward to showing these students that it is ok to not be ok…as long as we’re not ok with staying there! Jesus is the solution to our many issues, and growth will occur once we realize that it is only by God’s grace that we have a shot at getting back to where man and God can have relationship! Grace changes EVERYTHING!
What are your hobbies?
Currently, if I am not spending time remodeling my wife and I’s house, and working both jobs, I really enjoy getting some crossfit in! I also like to listen to many different pastors and teachers preach and teach the Scriptures. Lastly, I am the nerd who loves to study theology!
Do you have any children or pets?
I do not have any children, but I have 2 dogs. Before anyone asks…our dogs are not our children. They stay outside and do dog things, not human things like wear outfits and stuff. Lol
If you have no kids, then who is the kid in the picture?
That is my friend from El Salvador, named Christian. He LOVES futbol (soccer) and is pretty good at it for his age! He is one of the kids at the orphanage that Miranda (my wife) and I look forward to seeing when we are there! Over the years, we have become pretty good buds!
What is your education level?
I have a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in Biblical and Theological Studies.
Are you married?
Saving the best for last…Yes, I am married to a beautiful woman who is God’s greatest gift to me (outside of my salvation, of course)!! She really is a Proverbs 31 woman!
