Your prayers and financial support for what God has in store for the FBC – Troy Mission Team and the Honduran town of San Lorenzo are greatly needed as we plan our upcoming Summer mission trip.
When Are We Going?
‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
LISTEN: “The Main Business of the Church” from February 4th, 2018
There are dozens of villages and communities around San Lorenzo; some of which do not have electricity or access to clean drinking water – the majority do not even have Christian churches.
Where is San Lorenzo?
The city of San Lorenzo and the island of Isla del Tigre, are located in southern Honduras near the Pacific Coast. They are away from the tourist areas which are in the northern and central areas of the country.
The Mission Team at FBC – Troy will fly into the city of Tegucigalpa, drive down the mountain 2-3 three hours to San Lorenzo where they will be staying at a hotel. During the day they will take a 40-minute ride to the port, then a 15-minute boat ride to an island called Isla del Tigre. After this, they will take a half a mile hike to a church they are building on the island where the team will help with a series of various small projects. During the day they will be allowed into local elementary schools, some of which with several hundred children, to offer a VBS style program. During the evenings the group will be showing the Jesus Film in the villages.
The FBC – Troy Mission Team will be traveling during extreme temperatures and the rainy season. Most mission trips by other groups are to the “touristy” areas of Honduras located in the northern & central areas of the country. There will be a lot of walking and the team won’t always have immediate access to clean water.
Who Are We Working With?
The FBC Mission Team will be working with Pastor Osvaldo Herrera and his wife Rosy. They are a part of the Pastoral Association, Amistad Christiano, which means Christian Friendship. It encompasses 10-15 churches and missions in the area which work together to feed extremely poor families each week and share the Gospel while doing so.
Andrew Pratt from FBC Meridian has been traveling to Honduras since 2009 to help Pastor Osvaldo. He will be going with us as FBC Troy’s liaison.
To spread the Gospel, to assist Pastor Osvaldo in planting churches and discipling pastoral and Christian leaders, and make permanent connections which will allow us to return and continue in the years to come.
How You Can Help
We need your prayers and support.
- Pray that the people of Honduras will have open hearts and minds; ready to receive the Word of God.
- Pray that the lost ones will accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
- Pray for the safety and health of our team as they will be in a remote location with limited access to clean water and resources we take for granted.
- Pray for our church so that we may be able to support our team spiritually and financially.
